Overview
The project comprised a semi-independent modular office structure with mechanical and electrical infrastructure, air conditioning, floor coverings and furnishing.

The Project
Iris were recommended to Seco (a division of the Sandvik Group) by Yamazaki Mazak UK. The brief was for a new single office pod to replace 6 individual offices below a mezzanine in the main show room. The client was looking for a particular design, however previous companies to look at the project, while having the construction capabilities, did not have the creative flair to design something which would fit their corporate image. Within moments of meeting on site a concept sketch had been created based on the values described by the client.

The UK show room had been overseen at it's inception by the current managing director who had very strong views that any new development should compliment the original ethos behind the design. Iris' scheme for a glass and timber office unit, including corporate graphic work and colours was an instant hit with the team and, along with it falling well within budget an order was placed.

Iris examined the construction system in detail concluding that to minimise disruption and for the show room to remain fully operational, partial off site manufacture would be beneficial. The office arrived on site pre-finished by the joinery shop in seven sections where it was erected in half a day. The walls were then glazed, ceiling, lighting and air conditioning installed and the furnished office was handed back to the client a week ahead of schedule.

The new office takes up half of the space the previous 6 offices used and additionally, following careful space planning and furniture procurement, all six members of staff even benefit from increased storage space.
